A support program, which aims to encourage young people with special needs to participate in the City of Dorval’s summer programming, is offered under certain conditions.
The Dorval Day Camp is a non-profit community organization with an objective to offer a safe, enriching, and fun environment for children ages 5 to 12. We offer a summer camp as well as a camp during March break. We make every effort to keep the communication lines open between the Camp administration, the staff, the families, and the City of Dorval.
We encourage mutual respect between the age groups, the sexes, and the different cultures. The staff strives to offer campers a pleasant experience by concentrating on stimulating their social, emotional, intellectual, physical, and creative development. The camp aims to develop a beneficial environment for youth by maintaining an open dialogue between the children, their parents, and the personnel. This goal is reached through a mutual cooperation from all involved.

Get hands-on day camp experience with the LIT program!
Designed for teens ages 14 to 17 (as of June 1st), this program will help them in their quest to become a camp monitor. This hands-on program provides participants with real-life work experience, helping them develop important skills, gain knowledge, and build confidence. Leaders will learn a variety of skills and techniques by taking part in a 70-hour fieldwork experience at the Dorval Day Camp.
At each of our locations (SACC and ERA), two LITs will be able to complete their practical hours from June 23 to July 18 and two others will do so from July 21st to August 15. The schedule will be determined according to the LITs’ availability and the needs of the City. We strongly recommend that the 70 hours be completed consecutively, for the best possible day camp experience.
Please note that the Dorval Day Camp is open Monday to Friday (even on June 24 and July 1st). Regular programming hours are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., while the daycare service is open from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
All day camp LITs will be invited to take part in some staff theoretical training in June and in team meetings. These meetings will allow LITs to gain more skills and knowledge and will allow them to better understand how to organize and operate a day camp. Following their registration to the program, all LITs will be contacted by a member of our team to plan and discuss their schedule.
We’ll also give the LITs two T-shirts to wear during their practical training, so they’ll be clearly identified with the program and our team.
The LIT program is offered free of charge. Don’t wait, as there are only 8 places available.
A completed LIT program mentioned on your CV will give you an undeniable competitive edge!
