Mission statement
Dorval, its territory, its community, and its history are at the heart of our mission. A museum of history and a museum of society, the Dorval Museum of Local History and Heritage fosters a sense of belonging and contributes to the preservation, enhancement, and accessibility of a heritage that is unique to the communities of Dorval and the surrounding area.
Mandates of the institution
The DMLHH carries out its mission through the following mandates:
- Celebrate life in Dorval and the surrounding area. Local history, its people, groups, and landmark events form the foundation of the Museum's various mandates, programs, and activities;
- Preserve local heritage. The Museum collects, documents, and preserves tangible and intangible elements significant to the history and experiences of the communities on its territory;
- To highlight and pass on the history of its community. The Museum implements a comprehensive educational program that promotes the use, understanding, and integration of knowledge in a perspective of enrichment and self-development;
- Promote the appropriation of heritage and the growth of a sense of belonging in its community. The Museum positions itself as a hub for community life and the democratization of culture by using a human, playful, and open approach in all its services.
